REGISTRATION OPENS EXCLUSIVELY TO OUR EGYPT GALS ON 9/3 AT 9:30 A.M. CST
TRIP DESCRIPTION:
Step into the ancient world for an unforgettable journey with Gals Abroad Getaways in Jordan. A true gem in the heart of the Middle East, Jordan holds unparalleled history, natural wonders, rich cultural experiences, and warm hospitality from the Jordanian people.
Get ready for 7 adventure-filled days exploring Amman, the Wadi Rum desert, Petra, and the Dead Sea.
We will start our journey by visiting the archaeological sites of Jerash and Amman visiting iconic landmarks such as the Citadel, Roman Theatre, and Hadrian’s Arch. We’ll explore the vibrant downtown areas of Amman, indulge in authentic Jordanian cuisine & enjoy one of the most memorable meals at one of our favorite rooftop restaurants.
Next, we’ll travel into the enchanting Wadi Rum - a truly unique desert, also known as the Valley of the Moon. On our 4x4 jeeps, we’ll go deep into the rugged beauty of this region, and spend the night under the stars at a luxury camp before waking up with the sun for a morning camel ride.
Then we’re off to Petra, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, where you’ll marvel at this ancient city carved out of red sandstone. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Petra is known as the “Rose City”. This captivating destination is one that everyone should experience in their lifetime. We’ll spend two nights in Petra before heading out to the Dead Sea, where we will conclude our Jordan getaway floating in the mineral-rich waters and enjoying an unforgettable farewell home-cooked meal at a woman-owned estate.
We have limited space on this trip and are EXCLUSIVELY offering this trip TO OUR EGYPT travelers BEFORE ANYONE ELSE.
Because of this, we will not be conducting our normal sign-up and “Get to Know You introductory” calls. If you are ready to move forward with booking this trip, please fill out the shortened registration form below and we will follow up with an invoice on a first-come, first-served basis once we hit our minimum number of travelers to move forward.
We will only open this trip to the public if we do not fill all of our spots.
DESTINATIONS WE’LL BE VISITING:
Amman
Visiting Amman, the capital of Jordan, is an immersive experience that blends ancient history with vibrant modernity. The city's bustling streets are filled with the aromas of street food and the sounds of daily life, creating a dynamic atmosphere. Exploring the ancient Citadel offers panoramic views and a glimpse into the city's past, with notable landmarks like the Temple of Hercules and the Umayyad Palace. Just below, the well-preserved Roman Theatre stands as a testament to Amman's rich historical tapestry. As you wander through the lively streets and contemporary cafes, you'll encounter a warm and welcoming local culture. We’ll spend two nights in Amman.
Jerash
Visiting Jerash, Jordan, is like stepping into a time machine that transports you back to the grandeur of the Roman Empire. As you walk through the ancient city, you're greeted by the impressive Hadrian's Arch, leading to a world of remarkably well-preserved ruins. The sprawling site features colonnaded streets, majestic temples, and grand theaters that echo with the whispers of history. The Oval Plaza, with its stunningly symmetrical design, offers a glimpse into the city's architectural brilliance. Jerash's blend of historical significance and archaeological splendor makes it a captivating destination for any traveler. We’ll take a day trip here from Amman (about an hour away).
Madaba
In Madaba, known as the "City of Mosaics," you'll be enchanted by the intricate Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, most famously the 6th-century Madaba Map, a detailed mosaic map of the Holy Land housed in the St. George's Church. A short drive away, Mount Nebo provides a profound spiritual experience as you stand at the vantage point where Moses is said to have viewed the Promised Land. We will make a stop here on our way out of Amman as we head toward Wadi Rum.
Wadi Rum
Wadi Rum, also known as the Valley of the Moon, is an extraordinary adventure into one of the most stunning desert landscapes on Earth. As you enter the vast desert, you're greeted by dramatic rock formations, towering sandstone mountains, and sweeping red sand dunes that create a surreal, otherworldly scenery. Our 4x4 jeep will help us explore this majestic terrain, revealing ancient petroglyphs and hidden canyons along the way. The tranquility of the desert is best experienced during sunset when the landscape is bathed in golden hues, and at night, when the sky is filled with a breathtaking canopy of stars. We’ll spend one night in the desert at a luxury camp, where we can enjoy dinner & make memories under the stars.
Petra (and Little Petra)
One of the world's most iconic archaeological sites, Petra famously known as the Rose City due to its stunning pink-hued sandstone cliffs. Entering through the narrow, winding Siq, anticipation builds until you catch your first awe-inspiring glimpse of the Treasury (Al-Khazneh), a majestic façade carved into the rock face. As you explore further, Petra reveals a vast city of tombs, temples, and ancient structures, each with intricate carvings and monumental scale. The entire site, bathed in shifting light throughout the day, offers a profound sense of history and human achievement. We’ll spend two nights in Petra so that we have ample time to explore this unparalleled ancient site, including a visit at night by candlelight.
The Dead Sea
Another unparalleled experience in Jordan is visiting the Dead Sea. As the lowest point on Earth, its hypersaline waters allow you to effortlessly float on the surface, creating an almost surreal sensation of weightlessness. The mineral-rich mud along the shores is renowned for its therapeutic properties, making a mud bath an essential part of the visit. The landscape around the Dead Sea is starkly beautiful, with a backdrop of rugged mountains and tranquil desert. Watching the sunset here, with the sun casting golden hues across the still waters, is a magical and serene moment. We’ll enjoy our final night in Jordan at a luxury sea-side resort where we can float in the sea and relax before starting the second-half of our trip in Egypt.
ABOUT THIS GETAWAY:
We’ll spend 7-day, 6 night adventure-filled days experiencing Jordan’s ancient sites and one-of-a-kind natural wonders. Explore the awe-inspiring ancient Roman Sites, unbelievable Wadi Rum desert, enchanting city of Petra, and the cleansing waters of the Dead Sea.
Our journey begins in Amman where we will spend 2 nights, before heading into the Wadi Rum desert, where we will spend the night under the stars in a luxury camp before heading to Petra for 2 nights, and ending our trip with 1 night at the Dead Sea before heading back to Amman to fly as a group to Cairo.
During this trip, we will be accompanied by an expert guide the entire time as we explore ancient ruins and archaeological wonders. And most importantly, throughout this 7-day journey, you'll make lifelong connections with fellow travel-loving women, sharing laughs, stories, and unforgettable moments before joining the larger group for our Egypt Nile River Cruise directly after this trip. (Flight costs from Jordan to Egypt not included in the price of this trip. However, our team will coordinate our flight together as a group so that we are on the same flight and transfer, and you will be invoiced for this ticket separately.)

WHO THIS TRIP IS FOR:
Our Gals Abroad Getaways have been carefully crafted for independent women, seeking a blend of immersive cultural experiences, meaningful connections, and fabulous accommodations in some of the most dazzling destinations around the world. Above all else, we value kindness, inclusion, and respect (for our fellow travelers & the destination we are guests in).
Read the descriptions below carefully to determine if this trip sounds like it would be a fit for you:
YOU ALWAYS PACK AN OPEN MIND - You are eager to fully immerse yourself in a new destination no matter how different it may be from your day-to-day life & home country
YOU LEAD WITH KINDNESS AND RESPECT - We expect our gals to support an atmosphere of mutual respect and inclusion. You strive to always stay positive and prefer to look at life with a glass-half-full mindset
FLEXIBILITY IS YOUR MIDDLE NAME - You understand that travel, no matter how perfectly planned and curated, comes with its own set of hiccups and are ready to roll with the punches
YOU HAVE TAKEN THE TIME TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH THE DESTINATION PRIOR TO TRAVEL - We believe that a bit of preparation and understanding of the destination you are visiting will make any trip 10x more meaningful and help set realistic expectations for the country you’re about to visit
YOU’RE EXCITED TO MAKE SOME NEW GAL PALS - whether you’re joining us solo or coming with a gal pal, you’re ready to mix and mingle and make new travel-loving friends on this journey
YOU LIKE A BIT OF GUIDANCE BUT DO NOT NEED HAND HOLDING - We pride ourselves on maintaining a high level of customer service from the minute we launch a new trip to the time you return home. That said we empower our gals to be self-sufficient & lean into their adventurous side. Where possible, we will provide some free time so you have the flexibility to explore the city or kick back and relax because we understand that everyone has a different travel style. But we will ALWAYS be there to assist with suggestions & recommendations.
SPECIAL Jordan CONSIDERATIONS:
YOU CAN WALK ON UNEVAN SURFACES - Be prepared to walk on sand, stone, and uneven surfaces when going to and from the ancient sites, exploring the desert & visiting Petra. This will include walking up and down stairs and may include narrow and enclosed spaces (you will always have the option to opt out if you are claustrophobic).
YOU ARE PREPARED TO BE ON THE MOVE - To make the most out of your time in Jordan, we’ve created an itinerary that aims to show you the very best of what this destination has to offer while allowing for free time when possible. That said, while some days activities are lighter than others, this is not a trip for those looking to kick back and relax for the entire 7 days (but we are happy to help with booking extra nights at the beginning of your trip for a little R&R if your schedule allows.)
YOU ARE READY TO BE ACTIVE - This trip is for the intrepid traveler who is not afraid of getting up early, lots of walking, and being outside in hot temperatures. This trip involves a lot of walking, standing, and moving around in sometimes busy cities. Our gals should be willing and able to walk up to 3+ miles each day and be able to stand for extended periods of time.
YOU ARE READY TO STRETCH YOURSELF AS A TRAVELER - Jordan is a dazzling and incredible country but it can be an overwhelming destination to travelers whose only travel experience has been to North America, Western European countries, or the Caribbean. It’s a destination of dualities and any traveler who wants to visit should make sure you take some time to familiarize yourself with the culture prior to your trip.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ABOVE-MENTIONED CONSIDERATIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHOOT US AN EMAIL: admin@galsabroadgetaways.com
** This trip is open to any self-identifying woman 21 years and older. We reserve the right to decline any request to travel with Gals Abroad Getaways**

Any Gals who would like the option to cancel for any reason are advised to purchase additional travel insurance.
QUESTIONS?
Can I come solo?
YES OF COURSE (that’s what most of our gals do)! Please make a note of this on your registration & we will always work to pair you with a fellow solo traveler. If we cannot find you a roommate, you would have the option to join & pay a single supplement fee or opt to join us at a later date. However, we will never take your deposit without first letting you know where you stand with a roommate. Email to galsabroadgetaways@gmail.com if you have any questions!
How much free time will we have?
Very similar to our Morocco & India Getaways, this destination lends itself to a more guided tour due to the number of destinations we are visiting. That said, we always offer opportunities where possible to opt into extra activities & optional dinners to make sure that you get to do exactly as you please.
If you feel like you would like to have some time to explore Jordan deeper we are more than happy to chat with you about arriving early & can help you with your pre travel plans.
Can I come early or stay late?
Of course! We’re more than happy to assist with booking hotels & activities for any Gals arriving early. As for staying later, if you are joining us on our Egypt Getaway, you will need to join the rest of the group on our flight to Cairo on the 11th. Have more questions - shoot us an email galsabroadgetaways@gmail.com
What is the activity level?
We will be doing a fair amount of walking on this trip on uneven surfaces, on sand, and if you’re up for it, floating in the Dead Sea. You should be able to comfortably walk for about 3 hours. It will also be a hot and dry environment, so make sure to hydrate to stay healthy!
Is there an age requirement/limit for this trip?
You must be 21 years of age or older to join any Gals Abroad Getaway. While we do not have an age limit we do suggest that anyone joining this trip be comfortable with walking for up to 3 hours.
What should I pack?
Jordan is a conservative country, with roughly 97% of citizens identifying as Muslim. When packing for this trip, we recommend dressing more conservatively to respect the local culture, which means covering shoulders, no plunging necklines or short skirts. But don’t you worry, we will send out a packing list well in advance to those attending so that you have PLENTY of time to shop and plan so you can feel your most fabulous self once you arrive.
How can I get to know the other gals on this trip?
Prior to this trip, we will be sending out a Gals Abroad Getaways “Get to Know the Gals” document + some exciting virtual, IRL opportunities to get to know one another before the trip kicks off.
Do I need to purchase travel insurance?
Yes, everyone will be required to purchase travel insurance for this trip. In order for pre-existing conditions to be covered, this insurance must be purchased no later than 7 days from the date of initial deposit. When you are confirmed for the trip, we will follow up with insurance options and costs. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement for your trip costs if your plans change for unforeseeable reasons or if you need medical help/emergency transport or experience theft, loss or damage of items while traveling.
Is there a minimum number of participants required to run the trip?
Yes. We require a minimum of 12 travelers to run this trip. If we do not meet the minimum, the per-person cost is subject to increase by a nominal amount. If this occurs, we will reach out to each traveler to inform them of the additional cost.
What happens if the tour is postponed?
If this trip needs to be canceled for any COVID-19 reasons, we will reschedule this itinerary to a future date.
Is there a waiting list?
There will be a waiting list that will run on a first-come, first-served basis in the event of a space opening up. If this particular trip is full, and you’re still interested in coming, please send an email to galsabroadgetaways@gmail.com to be added to the waiting list
Still, have questions? No worries!
Send us an email galsabroadgetaways@gmail.com and we’d be more than happy to help!
